Hi, My laptop monitor recently broke and so I purchased a 20inch AOC LCD monitor to hook up to the laptop via the VGA connection. I installed the monitor driver located on the disc it came with with no problems. I then went into 'graphic properties' on my laptop and select the monitor as being the primary display.the monitor comes on but the resolution is s-e and set at 1024x768. When I go any higher the monitor goes black and 'Input No signal' comes onto the screen. Monitor specs:.
20-inch Widescreen (diagonal) TFT Active Matrix LCD Di. 16:9 widescreen, True Full Screen HD, 60000:1 high contrast ratio and 5ms high response time. LCD Native Resolution: 1600 x 900 Computer Specs: (via dxdiag):. Name: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family. Manufacturer: Intel Corp. Chip Type: Intel(R) GMA 950. DAC type: Internal.
Tot Mem: 128,0MB. Current Display Mode: 1024x768 (60Hz). Main driver: igxprd32.dll. Version: 6.14.0010.4926.
date:. WHQL Logo'd: Yes.
Computer: Toshiba Satellite A105-4094. Memory: 1.5 GB Ram. Windows XP Professional 32bit I would really like to be able to use my monitor, and Im pretty sure my laptop graphics/video card can support the 1600x900 resolution.
I did try prssing F8 on startup and booting in VGA mode, and then trying to select the correct resolution, but I still get the same thing. Any idea's on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!! Loading the monitor drivers from the CD that came with it often doesn't actually make Windows load them. RIGHT click on a blank part of the main desktop screen, chose Properties, then Settings. Click the display graphic for the EXTERNAL monitor.
It should say AOC something (monitor) on Intel something (video adapter). (If it does NOT say (monitor) on Intel something (video adapter), the Intel graphics drivers have NOT been installed properly! ) If it says Plug n Play Monitor or something else other than AOC. On the Settings window Advanced button - Monitor - Properties Somewhere in there, there are TWO monitors listed.
Select the one for the EXTERNAL monitor. Driver tab - Update driver - No, not at this time - Install from a list., Next - Don't search., Next Click on the checkmark in the box beside Show compatible hardware to remove it.
Click on AOC in the list on the left. The drivers for your monitor model that you installed should be in the list on the right. Highlight that by clicking on it. At the bottom of that window, click on Next, etc., etc (OR - if you have the drivers for the LCD monitor model, on a CD that came with it, or a monitor drivers download you got from the web (you may have to extract it's contents), click on Have disk - Windows is looking for an.inf file for the monitor model - once you have found that, select it. If more than one model is listed, choose the correct one., etc., etc.) Close each window you opened properly by clicking on whatever at the bottom of the window until you're at the desktop screen.
Restart Windows - boot normally. You should have the proper monitor drivers loaded. If specific drivers are loaded for the LCD monitor model, Windows will by default show you only the resolutions and other display settings the LCD monitor model can use that are supported by both the monitor drivers and the specific video drivers. Set the resolution to the Optimal or Native resolution your LCD model is supposed to use, if you can.
If you can't choose the Optimal or Native resolution, choose a resolution that has the same ratio of width to height, when you divide the width by the height, and switch on Clear Type. Turn on Clear Type in Windows XP or Vista - makes type/fonts on LCD screens look clearer.
In your case, if you can't select the 1600x900 resolution, choose one that is the same 16:9 ratio - when you divide the first number by the second one it's = 1.777 (to 1) (1024x768 has a legacy 4:3 resolution ratio - 1.333 to 1). It's recommended you use specific monitor drivers for an LCD monitor if they're available (cheap models don't have them) because you can choose settings that can DAMAGE the LCD monitor if you use Plug and Play Monitor drivers - they were primarily designed for CRT monitors, not LCD monitors / displays.
